Happy 4th of July

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!

1. The capitol.

We were up and ready by 7:15 (two nights of no sleep), and left the hotel with Starbucks pastries The tour was super strict. Absolutely NO liquids, or food. While on the tour, if you even venture off the slightest bit, there are police to put you in your place (I experienced this twice).

The tour started with a video showing America's progress and the purpose of the Capitol building. The video explained it as "the nation's stage".

Each room that we toured had statues of significant people from each state. The other rooms had great paintings that showed important times in history. Once again, it made me so grateful to belong to America. Even more grateful for the people who were bold and made a difference.

Snapchat had great filters that day. Especially near the capitol!

The legendary, Helen Keller.

The one and only, Brigham Young.

2.
Once we were finished, it was POURING rain outside. So we decide to go into the tunnel to the Library of Congress. We only lasted about 15 minutes there.
On our way to the Archives we passed the supreme court building.
Of course we all needed a photo with it.

This is the sign for "protest" (the hand on the hip is vital)

We didn't end up going to the Archives because the line was a 2-3 hour wait. So instead we went to Hardrock cafe for lunch. I'd never been there. it's a cool place with a lot to display!

Huge ice cream sundae.

Once again, us girls ditched out early and headed back to the hotel. We needed to get ready for the concert and get some umbrellas. We arrived right when the gates were opening, and found seats IN THE FRONT ROW. We were pumped! The only problem is that we needed to save a space for 9 people and we didn't have any blanket. So we spread our stuff out, and tried to take up a lot of space. One lady was so rude and sat down anyway. She put me in a bad mood...

Might I mention it was REAL HOT.

Then it started POURING rain!!! For a good 30 minutes.

We were determined to stick it out, even though our legs were getting wet.

It kept picking up so they cancelled the show. I was so sad. All that time and sweat for NOTHING. Ticked.

Plus now really wet.

Alie won the wet contest though

Thankfully a hotel decided to unlock their doors to us, and allow us refuge. After another 20 minutes or so, the rain finally stopped. We figured they would continue the show, so we walked back.

THE SHOW WAS BACK ON. Thank goodness. We got really good seats again, and they were in more hidden place so we didn't have to turn people away so frequently.
Unfortunately, the boys (our pest control guys) got to DC too late, and couldn't get into the venue.  So all that seat saving was for nothing.
On top of that, they didn't sell food at the venue like I imagined, so we were starving.
Plus still really wet.

Even though the odds were not in our favor, the show was fabulous!
They handed out flags to everyone and free water bottles.
I was impressed with all the music and only wished it went on longer.

Ps now I am even more in love with Hunter Hayes. I need to see him in concert.

After the concert, we had to stop by our hotel to freshen up.
We were muddy and still wet.
We eventually met up with the boys at Hardrock cafe. Haha.

It was a looooong night/day.

FYI: The day would not be articulated well enough if I didn't mention that we walked A TON.
Just doing the math from the things I mapped, we walked 8 miles. So in reality, probably 10 miles.

Here are random pictures from the day.
